My Dad was placed on life support and later that evening, staff wanted to place him on his belly. His vitals went down, and he wasn't doing well. Kate was not assigned as my dad's nurse that evening but knew his assigned nurse was new and Kate stepped in, took charge and my dad's vitals went back to safe readings. I know from conversations; Kate was a great nurse to my dad. It gave him hope and cheer when she was there, and they talked. Kate listened and didn't just pass time when she met me, she remembered facts he shared "I'm the daughter, I just bought a house and he said he needs to get better to go help you." It takes a special person to lift spirits such as Kate! The latest scare with my dad, Kate was here and saw me in the hall and gave me a printout of his heartbeat. That was so touching to think to do that, it meant a lot. Kate is truly amazing!

Others were great as well! I just grew a deeper connection with Kate. Kate really shined through stepping up and taking the lead when vitals went down. She led fellow nurses and a resident, and I honestly believe she gave my dad another chance at life that night. THANK YOU! Nurses wear invisible superhero capes, but through your actions, I saw your superpowers!
