Kate is an outstanding role model and patient advocate in the nursing community. After precepting with her for five weeks I've observed her extraordinary care and compassion for patients countless times.
One ICU patient in particular comes to mind who was in the unit under our care for several days. At one point, he coded and I watched Kate calmly team with other nurses to resuscitate him successfully. A week later their patient walked out of the unit alive and well!
As my teacher, Kate's patience and positive attitude have inspired me and motivated me every day. She truly is the best teacher I've shadowed in my entire nursing school career. She absolutely deserves the DAISY Award.
