Kate McGinnis, Staff Nurse-Resource, NICU, Egleston
The NICU at Egleston thrives on teamwork, nursing excellence and staunch devotion to our tiniest of patients. Kate is one of the unit’s most dedicated nurses. After receiving a devastating diagnosis, a patient’s family was in desperate need of direction and continuity of care. Kate stepped right in to educate them about their child’s condition, but more importantly she bestowed upon them the wisdom to live in the moment and embrace the happy times with their son—one day at a time. Her unwavering dedication and kindness helped this family when they needed it most. This is just one of many examples of Kate’s exceptional care. Her team attributed a Mark Twain quote to best describe their colleague. “Always do right—this will gratify some and astonish the rest.” Kate has certainly done right by her patients, their families and her team.
