M is a type 1 diabetic suffering from very bad pregnancy sickness, which has resulted in multiple hospital admissions. No matter how busy the ABC Clinic is, M’s treatment on the unit is often delayed, sometimes meaning we have to wait over 2 hours to be dripped up and be given medication. Kate has been on shift on at least 3 occasions and every time she is on, I know as a mother that I can leave my daughter and let the busy team get on with everything. Kate’s knowledge and speed mean M’s treatment is prioritised and she can be helped as soon as possible. She has never had to ask twice for anything! We have had at least 10 admissions, and when Kate is on shift we feel so safe and looked after amazingly. Kate does a GREAT job. I would like her care empathy and skills to be fully recognised.
