In all ways, Kate is a leader. She is someone people look to when they have an issue.
When I think of a leader I think of someone you look to when things get tough. They are able to take charge of the situation and you trust their judgment to lead you in the right direction. When I think of a leader, I can think of no one that better fits this category than Kate Smith. Kate has a wealth of nursing experience, 26 years in fact, and not only that, but she also shares her knowledge with all of the staff and patients she is around. She is a great educator, always helping with different educational events throughout the hospital: skills day, student nurses demo day, just to name a couple.
Kate is such an experienced nurse that she has the expertise to make the best of decisions. She can wear numerous hats: House Administrator, charge nurse, vascular access nurse, floor nurse, cardiac rehab, infusion, and the list goes on and on. Kate is always willing to lend a helping hand whenever and wherever help is needed without being asked to do so. Kate is an amazing nurse, and she is always someone I have looked up to as both a person and as a nurse. She is often the person many people go to when faced with a difficult situation.
Kate is always looking to learn new things and new roles. She is always going the extra mile to further her education. She recently received her certification for Vascular Access Nurses and went to a national educational conference in Las Vegas for this organization. Kate is someone who is always thinking of others. She is the most thoughtful person I know. She is a huge advocate not only for the patients she cares for but also the staff she works with. Kate is never afraid to speak up if she does not feel something is right. In all ways, Kate is a leader. She is someone people look to when they have an issue. One can always trust Kate for the best advice. Kate is very involved throughout the hospital, her presence is seen throughout different committees within the hospital, and she assists on all floors and departments when needed. Kate is an exceptional nurse, full of knowledge and compassion. She is a natural leader. I am grateful to call her both a co-worker and friend.
