Little did I know, but things were going to get scarier, and Kate would be the one who needed to make a judgment call that would, in my opinion, save my baby from going down an even scarier path than what we did.
My youngest was admitted to the medical unit after 14 hours in the ER. We were tired, cold, and pretty uncertain about what was going on and why. Kate greeted us with kindness, empathy, and the most welcoming smile I have ever seen. She introduced herself, talked to us about what she was doing, and most of all, she was gentle and sincere with my kiddo.
I am a big believer that people are placed in our journey for a reason. Little did I know, but things were going to get scarier, and Kate would be the one who needed to make a judgment call that would, in my opinion, save my baby from going down an even scarier path than what we did. Kate, along with several others, assessed and stabilized quickly. She made sure I was called and updated as things began and kept going. Kate even called once she was able to.
My baby (actually an adult) was taken to emergency surgery. Kate called me once everything was situated and provided another update. I was on my way to LV but wouldn't make it before surgery began. Kate even came to check on me/us later once her shift was done. My kiddo would be moved to the ICU. Kate came to see us. She had found some belongings that were left behind. She talked about how she had to take time to see us to make sure I was doing okay. She shared how she knew how hard my drive in that day must have been.
She was so kind and thoughtful, and we are forever grateful to her. I hope she is valued by all who know her. The world needs more nurses like Kate. Please give her so much gratitude from us.
With gratitude and love!
