Kate is our fearless Charge Nurse on days. She is constantly running around and helping her floor staff. Kate is an advocate for us and makes sure we are accepting safe patients. She sets up the rooms for us when we are expecting post-ops or admissions and always helps us settle the patient. A patient once hit her across the face and broke her glasses, but she continued with her work and showed genuine dedication to the patients and hospital. Kate always comes in when we are short, even on her weekends off. Kate knows what protocols or resources to reference for our questions if she doesn't know herself (she normally does though). She holds herself to the highest standards and is an example to all our new hires. I don't know what this unit would do without her.
