My son took too much Tramadol and stopped breathing. He almost died. When he was transferred to the PICU at Memorial Central, Katelyn was assigned to him. She stayed by him, never left his side. I really feel she was one of the main people responsible for saving my child's life. She dealt with our family dynamics in a completely professional, but still compassionate manner, while keeping my son's best interests as a priority. I feel I owe my son's life to her. She is amazing and deserves this recognition completely.

My stepson overdosed and was put into PICU. Katelyn was his nurse during the day. The entire time she was on shift she was by his side monitoring him. Every step she took, she would explain what and why she was doing it. She got us familiar with the lines and equipment on what everything did. She was straight as an arrow; no sugar coating anything, but was still caring.

When crazy grandma came in and started belittling my son and everyone who was by his side, she stepped in and called her out and threatened to not let her visit if she didn't only bring positivity into the room. She made sure lines were not jumbled and equipment was stocked and in its right place. When my stepson was transferred out, Katelyn came to check in on him. She was by far the best nurse I've ever encountered.

Katelynn was a true advocate for my grandson when he was in the hospital. She stayed by his side and really demonstrated very real care and compassion above and beyond normal nursing.
