Katelyn was caring for an outpatient after their surgical procedure who wanted to go home when she noticed he was rubbing his chest. She asked him if he was ok, and he stated he was having chest pain. Katelyn immediately called the doctor for orders, including an EKG, which showed that the patient was having a STEMI. The patient was then transported to the ER and airlifted to another facility, where the patient was found to be 100% occluded. Katelyn's attentiveness to her patient was evident, as she could have assumed the patient was rubbing his chest, as he had just had left shoulder surgery, but she took his concern very seriously and likely saved this patient's life.
