May 2025 Honoree
Katelyn M Puckett, BSN, RN
At the time of my visit to the ER, Katelyn was my nurse. She kept a smile the entire time. I had just returned from vacation, so she was not a nurse I recognized, and she didn’t know I was an employee. She was fairly new to being on her own and was very gentle putting in my IV. She made sure to ask if it was comfortable. I came in due to vomiting and was unaware that my potassium was severely low. Once again, she made sure I was comfortable since potassium given intravenously is super harsh with an intense burning sensation. She did everything in her power to make it more than tolerable. I was also cold, so she kept making trips to get me warm blankets. She checked on me more than she had to. She made me feel as though I was not alone. She made me feel like she was my sister. With Katelyn being new at the time, I did not expect the treatment that I received that day. She was always calm and smiling. She made me feel like I was her only patient, although I knew she had several others. She showed so much compassion and expertise. To me, she helped save my life! Even now when she sees me, she always asks if I am doing ok. She without a doubt belongs at Cherokee Medical Center! Thank you so much for everything that you did and still continue to do!
Thank you, Katelyn M, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
