During our first 2 days, we did not have an EPIC instructor in our area, and Katelyn literally made us all feel supported and cared about. She kept our patients safe.
Katelyn has always been a strong leader, but she has 100 percent excelled in her outstanding leadership during the EPIC transition. Katelyn took it upon herself to spend hours learning EPIC, writing out clear instructions on how the RNs in chemo infusion would go about their day-to-day workflow. She was present every day, working overtime, to ensure the success of the EPIC transition. During our first 2 days, we did not have an EPIC instructor in our area, and Katelyn literally made us all feel supported and cared about. She kept our patients safe. She was and continues to be the absolute go-to for our MDs, NPs, PAs, RNs, MAs, schedulers, and even our pharmacists. She, may I add, is not even a SuperUser. She just took it upon herself to lead and guide us all through what could have been a very rough transition. Not only is she an outstanding leader, person, charge nurse, and patient advocate, she is someone who has gone way above and beyond for the success of our Cancer Institute.
