Katie is currently taking care of a patient on our unit for failure to thrive/depression. This patient has lost both her husband and son in the past 4-6 months. Additionally, during this hospital stay, the patient lost her brother, who had been in the emergency room with her the night prior.

Katie spent a lot of time at the bedside comforting and consoling the patient. After the patient calmed down and was walking with therapy, Katie snuck down to the gift shop to purchase flowers and a stuffed animal for the patient. Katie was able to greet the patient with the gifts when she arrived back from her walk with therapy.

Katie always goes above and beyond for her patients on a daily basis, and this is just one of the many selfless acts I have witnessed while working with her. Thank you, Morgan Casey
