From the 1st semester in the nursing program, it was evident that Katelyn had the knowledge, steadfastness, and work ethic required to be a successful nursing student. She was always willing to lend a helping hand to classmates, nurses on the floor, and even clinical instructors. She was observant of the small things, the things that make such a difference in the quality of life of our patients. During one shift, she took the time to clean a patient's glasses. The patient became overwhelmed with emotion and couldn't believe that someone would take time out of their busy schedule to do something so small. She also volunteered in the COVID call center above and beyond her clinical requirements for her community course. The supervisors and providers of the call center were complimentary of her professionalism and caring demeanor as she spoke with citizens who were worried about a COVID exposure. She has been a leader and has been supportive and engaged with her classmates.
