From the first meeting of Katelyn Thompson, you could tell she was different. She was just bright, happy, and settled after a long and scary night with our daughter. Our daughter had her first episode of SVT, and after a life flight to Primary’s and a long night to get settled, Katelyn was our day shift nurse. She made us feel like we were her only patient and took extra time to make sure that not only was our daughter comfortable, but my husband and I were as well. When it came to concerns and questions we had, she answered them to the best of her ability but then always passed them on to the team so they knew our concerns. She even went as far as personally looking into a few things about our daughter and the concerns we had to see if she could find solutions and expand her learning. She made sure to educate us as things came up, which also helped with the anxiety of the unknown. This was a hard few days, and it was the most reassuring thing knowing that she was in Katelyn’s hands for 2 of those days. Being a nurse myself, I’ve met a lot of great nurses, but Katelyn is special and really stands out. The thing that I found the best was I know she is probably treating every patient and family like they are the most special patients of the day. Truly I can’t thank the CCU team enough, as well as Katelyn! I am forever grateful for you.
