I wanted to thank you for the care my Dad received at your hospital. Most specifically I wanted to thank his Nurse Kate Strangis. She had been his nurse off and on for the week he was there before he passed away. She was the only one who tried to really get us the information about what was happening during his treatment. She was patient and listened as we asked questions, treating Dad like her only patient.
Kate also made a point of remembering me and my brother's names; it may seem insignificant, but it is huge. Then we had a meeting with a Hospice Coordinator about Dad moving to another location. The appointment was at 1:00 with the Hospice Coordinator. Within 15 minutes of my brother and I off that call, my brother got a call from Kate to let us know we needed to get there asap because Dad was going. It was incredibly sudden.
We didn't make it in time, but he was not alone and when we arrived Kate was there with condolences and hugs and was so comforting. I will never forget walking up to his door and having it closed. It wasn't closed at all the whole time prior. It was surreal.
Kate talked about being his Nurse and how he was a great patient. She met his Sister, Niece, and Dad's Caregiver, as well as her Daughter and family friend, and just listened to their stories. Kate brought us water and snacks and just let us be in his room as long as we needed. I'll be forever grateful for her presence during this horrible time. She was a comfort and we appreciate her. Thank you for having such amazing Nurses on your staff. She was a blessing.
