Katherine Burns, RN

Katherine has been mom’s nurse on both Monday & Tuesday of this week.  My mom had been in the hospital off and on since March.  She was brought in due to confusion and fluid buildup- stage 5 kidney failure.  My mother is elderly and can become anxious and overwhelmed very quickly.  The compassion Katherine showed my mom was beautiful.  She held her hand, explained everything to her, and repeatedly checked on her.  Her patience was remarkable! 

My mom struggles to feed herself, and most of the time, I or my family are there to help her eat. However, one day, I had to leave early for work. I expressed my concerns with staff before leaving. I FaceTimed with Mom that evening to find Katherine in my mom’s room helping her eat, even after her shift had ended. I was very touched by her compassion and felt very blessed to have her caring for my mother.
