As a generally healthy person, I had never been hospitalized or received anesthesia- I was anxious about having surgery. In 2022, I delivered my daughter via c section- Katie was the nurse anesthetist by my side during my delivery. As a nurse myself, I was impressed (and grateful!) for Katie's professionalism and calming presence during the preparation for the c-section and the entirety of my delivery. She explained everything she was doing in detail and helped calm down my fears of receiving the spinal anesthetic. The whole duration of my surgery (a quick 40 minutes), I was cold and shivering; Katie must have replaced the warm blankets on me at least 3 times, wrapping up my arms and chest. Each time that I asked for more warm blankets she didn't make a fuss about it, instead was very patient and understanding to keep me warm and comfortable. Throughout the operation, Katie kept me updated in detail with what the physicians were doing behind the drape, which, with my nursing background, I appreciated a lot. Katie and the whole OR staff team made my birth and first surgery experience a very positive one. I would like to thank Katie for being such a positive presence during my delivery and to acknowledge her skills and nursing touch.
