Katie has truly inspired me to be the best nurse I can be. She creatively seeks to educate us on a daily basis. When having her as a teacher, she makes you feel like family and really cares about you and is willing to accommodate to your needs while still making sure you're staying on track. The fact that she can facilitate such an open discussion amongst a group in class never left a dull moment and everyone collaborated in work- even those who would normally not speak up in other classes. She treats everyone equally and makes everyone feel welcome. At the VA she knows just about everyone (it seems!) and worked extremely hard to get us the best clinical experiences throughout the WHOLE hospital which many other students in different groups did not get to experience. I truly feel grateful for having her as a teacher and think she deserves recognition for her outstanding work. ?Dr. Couture is passionate about nursing practice and the professional development of her students. She provides a framework for learning that clearly explains her expectations on professional behavior, effective communication, and the course learning objectives. Dr. Couture creates an environment that encourages respectful dialogue and discussion to explore patient care issues. Using concept mapping to understand relationships between data collected and assist the student in making clinical judgments and decisions. She collaborates with other disciplines at the clinical site to provide other learning experiences outside of their assigned area. Dr. Couture is a wonderful professional nurse role model. ? ?She completely understands the mindset of a student and is willing to address and ease all concerns one may have. Katie has an excellent attitude and is always so happy to be with students. During our post-conference students are able to discuss their learning experiences and struggles they encountered. Katie creates an environment where can students feel free to express themselves.? ?She has made it so easy for us to go to her with any problems or concerns that we have and she has challenged us to critically think and become great nurses, truly caring for the patients that we are caring for. She has devoted her entire life to nursing and teaching others to become excellent nurses. She makes sure to include all areas of nursing into our education so that we get a well rounded experience at our clinical site which allowing us to dive into our individual interests at the same time.
