Kathy is one of many wonderful nurses in this unit but what makes her extraordinary is her remarkable caring and sensitivity towards the patient and the patient's family. She has endeared herself to us in many ways with the small almost imperceptible things she has done for our loved one—such as making sure the lines were not pressing on her—or fluffing her hair just a little.
The thing that most endeared her to us was one day... after we were all exhausted, weary and so worried... Kathy asks us to tell her "some cool things" about our loved one. Only my niece and I were here at the time but we immediately told her several fun facts about her. Kathy really listened and enjoyed our stories and even referred to them the next few days in conversation. She is a delight in every way... helpful to all of us as we have waited for our loved one to fight through her severe injuries. Sadly, she could not survive but she received extraordinary care here.
