In a day filled with chaos and stress I followed the giggling sounds into a patient's room to find a patient, who is ordinarily crying in pain when her wound vac is being changed, crying giggling tears while popping bubble wrap. Katherine stood with the patient laughing as well - a new innovative way to manage pain. It's moments like this that endear Katherine to her patients. You can see it in her eyes that when she cares for a patient, she genuinely cares for that patient. She feels their ups and downs, and sincerely celebrates their wins or mourns their losses. Unrelenting compassion like Katherine's is where we all should strive to be.
