She was so patient with my family and very compassionate. She let us take our time to be with him during his last hours.
Recently, I lost my father-in-law from complications from RA and pulmonary fibrosis. He was in MICU for about 15 days on and off bipap and heated high flow oxygen. The day that he passed, Katherine was his nurse. She was so patient with my family and very compassionate. She let us take our time to be with him during his last hours. Although a painful experience, I can always look back and cherish the time we had with him, especially during his passing. She never pushed us or made us feel as if we had to make any decisions about his care before we were ready. She also communicated with us about any changes when he was declining, and she was so gentle about it. I have never been more proud to work for an organization as I am right now. I would entrust my loved ones to the care we received over and over again. I just thank God that she was his nurse because she was truly a blessing to me and my family during a difficult time. I will forever be grateful.

Katherine consistently goes above and beyond when caring for her patients and for their families. She is definitely someone that I would want to care for me. She always puts the patients and family first and below is just one small snapshot of the great work that Katherine does at NGMC EVERY SINGLE SHIFT. I have attached two pictures of one of the best nurses I have ever had the pleasure of working alongside. Despite the fact that she didn't take her entire lunch, and has said multiple times that she needs to catch up on her charting, here she is, cutting up a rhythm strip to place in a bottle and give to the family who is decelerating care today. She is also getting the cart ready, to take fingerprints and make a card for the patient. She is going above and beyond, as she so very often does. Ah, what the world would be like if there were more Katherines!
