She is amazing and makes so much effort to make sure every infusion is a positive and even fun experience for our daughter.
Katie's always amazing at caring for our 8-year-old son. It's hard to pick just one time when she truly made an impact because every visit is special, but every year during his treatment days around his birthday, she decorates my son's door with window paint and hangs streamers in his room to celebrate his special day and make him feel seen and special. Our son has XLA and arthritis, so he has been coming to the Children's Hospital North Campus for years now, and she's never been short of amazing. We love seeing her even if she isn't his nurse every time, she makes sure to go out of her way to greet and talk with our son, she truly goes above and beyond the expectations. She's truly special, we are lucky to have her, and so is the Children's Hospital!

Our daughter has a rare genetic disorder called Prader-Willi Syndrome and anemia caused by a separate rare condition, which means she has to have somewhat regular iron infusions. The infusions have been a huge deal - very anxiety-provoking for our daughter and our entire family because she has always been a very hard poke. That is, until we had Katie as our nurse - she is amazing and makes so much effort to make sure every infusion is a positive and even fun experience for our daughter. Even though she sees many different patients, and it can be many months between infusions, she remembers our daughter every time, even down to which veins are good for pokes and which are not. She takes her time to make sure she gets our daughter's IV the first time, which really helps our daughter's anxiety. She also makes sure she rewards our daughter with pink tape, "boo boo busters" - band aids, stickers, and a prize - it's turned a really rough procedure into a very positive experience. Last time we visited, she even stenciled fairies onto the window in our daughter's room! She is a very caring nurse, and we are so grateful we found her.
