Katie is always available to staff and is responsive to the needs of others. She has encouraged me and countless others. She may be in the middle of something but never makes you feel rushed or that what you have to say is not important. She listens and has compassion for her staff and the patients she meets. We are truly blessed to have her at Baptist Beaches. She makes a difference in the lives of so many people every day. Katie always demonstrates care and concern for staff as well as patients and their families. She has a knack for making you feel better right when you need it; she is very easy to talk to and is welcoming to all who need to speak with her. If a patient call light rings when she is in the hallway, she will stop and answer it then she takes care of the problem if she can or makes the nurse aware of the patient's needs. She always encourages us in the kindest way possible at staff meetings and recognizes those who have gone above and beyond. She takes the time to be kind even when she has to speak to an employee about an issue or concern. I'd like to recognize her as going above and beyond in a kind, caring way. Thank You, Katie, for all you do for our team members, patients, and families!

Over the last year, I have observed Katie reach out and coach in numerous ways to encourage the Registered Nurses on the MSU/ACE unit to grow and better serve the older adults on that unit by continually talking up the GRN courses available on the NICHE Knowledge Center site and how it would not only provide them CE opportunities, but also growth and knowledge in caring for the older adult population. These courses prepare the nurses to sit for the ANCC Gerontology Nurse Certification and some have voiced that this is one of their future goals. Since January of this year, five nurses have taken up the endeavor to do just that, and Katie has also spoken to the CNAs for courses available to them and so far, one has started and more are interested. I believe she is a role model worthy of replication.

Katie has taken on many new tasks in the last few months, especially becoming the interim manager for PCU. She has worked hard with the ANMs to help create a better unit. Katie has been a very positive influence on the unit in such a short period of time. Katie approaches issues and concerns in a teamwork manner, including all of the team members on the unit. She is a great asset to Baptist. Thanks, Katie!
