Katie recognizes how to capitalize on others’ strengths and allow the team’s best attributes to shine.
Compassion: Katie is sensitive to the pain and suffering of others and is warm-hearted when people are in a time of loss or need. For example, when my brother died, Katie did not hesitate to not only offer her sympathies, but check in with me, offer tangible help and support, and consistently show her concern for me and my family. It is what separates her as an outstanding leader who goes beyond the call of duty.
Collaboration: Katie recognizes how to capitalize on others’ strengths and allow the team’s best attributes to shine. Because she is quick to collaborate and work as a team, what is produced/created is even better. She has offered her expertise on matters that I work with while encouraging my creativity and ideas.
Clinical Excellence: Katie has had a long career with CentraCare and her diligence to clinical excellence speaks for itself in how she approaches education that is evidence-based. She seeks out new ways of doing things and then shares these with her colleagues to increase the effective care of all at CentraCare.
Ability to Listen: Katie listens with intention - I can tell when I am in a meeting with her that she is listening for understanding, not distractedly. I leave feeling heard which is a foundational, yet often missed, aspect of humanity.
Ability to Serve: Katie is a woman of action - she doesn’t pass work along to someone else, she is willing to roll up her sleeves and dive in to help others where they most need it. I am in the midst of a big project (writing for accreditation) and Katie is consistently asking where she can help and then springing into action when I need assistance.
Ability to Guide: As my boss, Katie has a wonderful way of encouraging while guiding. When she provides me with constructive feedback, she does so in a way that guides me to be better rather than put me down.
Ability to Heal: Katie recognizes the healing mission of CentraCare as a central aspect of what she does. As a result, she approaches things with a healing mindset rather than “fixing” or changing just to change - how can things heal to be better?
Katie is an asset to CentraCare, and the community and I am very thankful to have her as my leader.
