Kate came with a "New Mom" gift for A stating that she had been on Kate's mind and wanted to share something with her.
My daughter, A, and I wanted to take a few minutes to share with you her experience when she was on your unit. She delivered her first baby on a very busy Tuesday. There were 3 nurses who received her post-op and settled her in prior to shift change. The teamwork was notable, and, in their care/assessments, we learned that there had been many admissions to your unit in a short time. I want you to know that not once did we feel that your staff rushed through A's or baby G's care. There was a tremendous amount of time devoted to education and care for mom and baby. All of your nurses were thorough in their teaching, and I felt they took the time to ensure their patients' questions were answered.

We appreciate all of your team, but we want to give a special thank you to Kate T., Charge Nurse. She went out of her way to assist in a concern that was raised by one of our family members. Kate and a team member from birth records came to discuss the concern, ensure that there was a resolution (which there was) and make sure that she knew her concern had been heard. Later in the day, Kate came with a "New Mom" gift for A stating that she had been on Kate's mind and wanted to share something with her. Her kindness, compassion, and personable behavior really touched A.

I want to thank your staff for helping to make A's experience a positive experience. A big thank you to Kate for acknowledging the challenge of A's journey (her significant other died in a car accident in February) and going out of her way to show compassion. I cannot tell you how much this means.
