My dad came out of open-heart surgery and was fully sedated on a vent. Walking into the room was a shock, and it was hard to see a family member in that state. Katherine walked over to us immediately and introduced herself with a very warm, comforting presence. She is just a person who feels like family. She spoke clearly, calmly, and with confidence. When using medical terms, she immediately explains what they mean so you don’t feel lost, and she also doesn’t make you feel dumb. She is knowledgeable about what she does and was on top of every alarm, medication time, and any need he had. She was always nearby and responsive to any question or concern. I never felt like we were being rushed or annoying her. She was very personable and gave me so much peace of mind that my dad was in good hands that I left to go home and sleep. I usually stay at his bedside all day and night to ensure he has an advocate. Katherine was his advocate. She called with updates, and honestly, I didn’t need them because I knew he was in the best hands. I can’t tell you how much of a difference Katherine made in our lives while caring for my dad. She is an incredible nurse and person.
