My brother was brought to the Emergency Room at MidState Medical Center. He was non-responsive, and the doctor had to put him on a ventilator. He was immediately admitted to the Critical Care Unit. Unfortunately, he did pass away 12 days later, while still in the Critical Care Unit.
The care J received while hospitalized at MidState was outstanding. One nurse, in particular, Katherine Waldrop, was with him for several days during his stay. While caring for my brother, he was always "J", a human being, not just the patient in bed 2. Every time she entered the room, Katherine told J that she was there, who she was, and what she would be doing for him, and she told him when I was there, too. Each time I walked into the unit, Katherine saw me and came in to update me on J's condition; if she was busy with other duties, she said she'd be with me as soon as she was free, and she always was.
She treated J with such wonderful respect, dignity, and compassion, though he was mostly unable to respond due to the ventilator and medications. I felt very comfortable knowing J was in such caring, thoughtful and competent hands. Katherine Waldrop is a huge asset to MidState Medical Center and a true DAISY Nurse. Thank you.

Thank you, Katherine, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
