I felt like Kathy was my advocate and genuinely cared for me as if she were in my shoes.
In December our beautiful baby girl was born! Most of the staff was great but one nurse really stood out during this life changing experience.
This being our first child, my husband and I were nervous to say the least. After my water broke and active labor started things got intense I chose to not have any pain meds or an epidural. I was exhausted and started to doubt if I could get through it because I didn't feel like I was getting any closer to the moment of meeting my daughter. My mom went to find a nurse to help me and reassure me because I was getting scared at this point and needed someone to walk me through all of this.
When my mom came back into the room with Katheryn Patrick, she really seemed to get the ball rolling so I could start pushing. I felt like Kathy was my advocate and genuinely cared for me as if she were in my shoes. Not everything that happened is crystal clear to me because I was in such pain but I do remember how relieved I felt when Kathy was there rooting me on. I said something like, "I'm having a hard time seeing the light at the end of the tunnel" during labor and I will never forget that right before my daughter was put on my chest, Kathy said, "here comes your light at the end of the tunnel".
Kathy listened to me, reassured me, and calmed me, making me feel empowered to finish. Afterwards, once we were getting things gathered to move to our room, Kathy was so patient, compassionate and caring as she helped me get situated.
I felt so comfortable around her. My husband, mom, and dad all felt like she was a part of the family after everything was over.
