September 2015 Honoree
kathi bryant, RN
An old man came into the ER with psychosis and was at end stages of life. Due to his psychosis he was placed in the psych ER until he was evaluated and placement was determined. This was Kathi's patient, the patient was fragile but anxious and clearly uncomfortable. Kathi spent time at his bedside singing songs to him because it provided him some peace. When she sang the old man calmed and appeared comforted. Despite the business of the ER, Kathi stopped and took time to find the specific need of the patient and cared for his specific needs. Kathi shows this type of higher and individualized care to all of her patients. She shows care, concern and shares insight daily. She leads with grace and sets the example for patient care in our hospital.
Thank you, Kathi, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
