My first impression of Kathi was that she appeared to be a "by the textbook" employee. Then something changed. I have been in and out of hospitals many times with my mother and I can never recollect becoming emotionally attached to a nurse that I did not work alongside, but I felt this attachment to Kathi. Kathi epitomizes the word compassion. We never had to ask for anthing. She could always anticipate any need. I can't say enough great things about her. On the morning that he died, Papa had not responded to a soul in about 4 hours. When Kathi sneaked down to visit him in his palliative care suite, he lit up like a Christmas tree. He opened his eyes for her. I would not have believed it had I not seen it. She was a source of strength for my family. It is almost cliche to say you will treat patients as you would want your family treated, but she lived this. I will never forget her exceptional care!
