My grandmother was admitted to the ICU and passed away 2 days later. She was greeted by Kathie upon her return from surgery. Kathie took care of my grandmother for 2 days during her hospitalization. Kathie was very patient, caring, and kind to my grandmother. She took the time to address our concerns regarding my grandmother. Kathie not only took care of my grandmother, she cared for the whole family. She listened to our stories with genuine interest. Sometimes it is the smallest gestures that speak the loudest. Had my grandmother been well and not sick, I know she would have been telling Kathie about her family and telling her was a sweet nurse she is. I cannot put my finger on one specific situation because things still seem like a blur after our loss. It gives me peace to know that a couple of my grandmothers last days were entrusted to a very caring, compassionate, and knowledgeable nurse. I hope St. Luke's South Shore know was a gem they have. My grandmother would have said the same.
