She made it a point to come in, talk to me and my family, explain everything that was going on, and coach me through childbirth from start to finish.
Kathleen showed the utmost compassion and empathy throughout my entire stay; there was never a time when she didn't. To provide a specific example, I had planned on breastfeeding my baby and for the first two days he really took to it, however, he would come back for more soon after leaving my breast which became very painful and led us to believe that maybe he wasn't getting enough. Others suggested going to formula, which I didn't necessarily disagree with, but I really wanted to bond with my baby. Kathleen understood my concerns and left the room briefly, coming back with formula and a little drip line which we used at the same time as breastfeeding. Our little baby absolutely loved the extra food coming in and I was still able to bond and share the time with him.
Kathleen was beyond tremendous during my stay in labor and delivery. She could sense that I was having a rough time and that I was extremely worried about the entire process. She made it a point to come in, talk to me and my family, explain everything that was going on, and coach me through childbirth from start to finish. She was always resourceful and organized. Every time she entered the room, she had a plan, and she executed it flawlessly, all the while being able to be extremely personable, helping me through so many of my emotions, and taking the time to make me feel and know that I had the absolute best and most caring nurse in the entire hospital.
