During my 2 months stay in the maternal fetal care unit I had Kat mostly every time she worked. From day one with her she made me feel at ease with the care for our twins. She helped me feel safe and fill my time being inpatient while away from my family. Every interaction with her she went above and beyond to make sure I was taken care of. She always made sure to try and get me as a patient when she worked. Which was always great to get a nurse you were familiar with and made you feel extra comfortable.
I was lucky enough to have Kat as my nurse for the delivery of our complicated twin pregnancy. I cannot even begin to put into words how much this impacted our delivery and our experience at Children's. I labored for 4 days and had her the last two. I was in pain and had complications arise and I was scared to death of a C-section. For the 2 days of the delivery, she DID NOT LEAVE my side. I didn't find out till later she put my needs 100% first and didn't even take a break herself to eat or drink. She truly was the definition of going above and beyond for her patients. She held my hand when I cried, she advocated for the best care plan for my current situations she followed through with superb skills to help ease my pain. Every step of our journey she was right there by my side and followed through until we had our beautiful healthy baby boys on our arms.
After delivery, she continued to make sure I was okay. As soon as safe she made sure I was taken over to see our babies in the NICU. Even after I was discharged she would come and check on us and babies in the NICU. She never once stopped caring advocating or taking care of us. Even when we weren't her patients anymore. If anyone deserves to be recognized for their selfless care given day in and day out it is Kat. She hands down made our stay a memorable and positive experience. The health world needs more dedicated and skilled nurses like her!!
