Our family was blessed to have Kathy in our world last month. My husband spent 11 days in the ICU at Sky Ridge Medical Center. Our medical nightmare was complicated by emergency procedures, an overcrowded hospital, and a complex medical profile. As we floundered, Kathy was able to help us see the big picture, understand the hospital system, navigate the Kaiser aspect, provide stellar patient care and…lend the family unconditional support. Whenever we were confused or concerned about a specific symptom, Kathy explained and addressed the issue immediately. As we navigated multiple specialists and countless updates, Kathy would give perspective and explain the interconnectedness of the medical care. Specifically, she worked to arrange two MRI screenings at the same time for my husband, rather than accept the double appointments and double strains for a highly compromised gentleman; this single advocacy was a display of common sense, medical insight, and personal commitment to her patient. Bravo! We thank Kathy who provided excellent medical care to my husband last month. She brought us a feeling of community, a sense of trust in the medical arena, and kind, supportive, understanding for the entire family. Numerous professionals helped us during our two-week stay at Sky Ridge, but Kathy was able to work with us on the consecutive days of hospitalization during which we desperately needed a wise, tenacious, and talented nurse.
