Kathy cares out loud! She always ensures that patients know which medicines they are taking. She is always going above and beyond to ensure training on medical equipment is provided to families and caregivers, and even taking the extra step to document thoroughly. Kathy is a team player and always comes to therapy to collaborate on the plan of care, and I really appreciate how much she invests in our patients and families. Kathy is very thorough, which is one of the reasons why I always feel confident raising a patient care issue to her. She knew something was wrong with the patient and ensured the patient received the necessary care. In the 4 years I have been here, I have seen Kathy go above and beyond every single second of every single shift. No matter what she has going on, her patients come first, and it is known. She goes above and beyond from day one, training and getting the families involved, and does it with a smile on her face. She always seems to find the good in every bad situation, and her energy is contagious. I can truly say that if I had to be a patient here or have my family here. I could only hope that Kathy Godzik would take care of us, because I know we would be in great hands. The daughter of a patient asked to nominate Kathy for the DAISY Award. She expressed such gratitude for the care Kathy provided her father that she took the time to listen to her, not just the patient. She was impressed by how Kathy took much time to assist the patient with his ileostomy, how detail-oriented she was, and, most importantly, how mindful she was of his pain and skin breakdown. Lastly, she expressed that one thing she especially noticed about Kathy was that she cared. As she shared this, she became emotional, tears welling in her eyes.
