I would like Ms. Griffin to receive consideration for the DAISY Award. She is my nurse practitioner. I was homeless and very distraught. I am a Veteran of the U.S. Army. Ms. Griffin was the first person that I found to give me a window of opportunity to break my alcohol addiction and a life of being homeless! She showed compassion and instant caring help that was so desperately needed. The very day I came in to see her, she found a program called V.O.H. to help me overcome my homelessness. She with all her empathy and skill has helped me to overcome my alcoholism along with a diagnosis of an eye condition. It has been 431 days since that meeting with her trust and faith in myself and strength to remain committed to sobriety, and her obvious love for the patient and my overall well-being are, in my opinion, the most admirable attributes in the VA Health Care System I have experienced in my 30 years of receiving care in the VA.
