I am writing to nominate Kathleen Little for the DAISY Award. Her compassion and exceptional care were evident during a particularly difficult situation involving the mother of a critically ill patient. Kathleen was this patient's primary nurse, and the child was undergoing surgery. I needed to discuss a difficult OR situation with the mother. Kathleen volunteered to help me do this without hesitation. Kathleen had built a relationship with the mother, and throughout this challenging time, she demonstrated support, empathy, and compassion for the mother and her child. Her ability to communicate complex and painful information with kindness and clarity made a profound difference. Kathleen stayed with the mother providing solace and answering questions, ensuring she did not feel alone during this devastating moment. Kathleen's dedication to her patients and families goes above the call of duty. Her compassionate care and unwavering support embody the true spirit of nursing. I have witnessed this over and over in the Pediatric ICU. Please consider her for the DAISY Award. She truly deserves it.
