While all the nurses in this department are outstanding, Kathleen has gone above and beyond to make us feel welcomed, comfortable, and taken care of. From the beginning, she has been our champion making sure that our 2-week old son is getting the treatment he's needed. While us, his parents, are very unfamiliar with an RSV diagnosis, she has taken the time to answer our questions and even be the go-between for us and the doctors and respiratory therapists. One particular scary morning she tracked down an experienced RT to help us with our son's breathing after we had waited almost an hour, having paged a different individual. She is no-nonsense when it comes to our child's health and safety and has put me at ease and helped me relax countless times. She does nothing but exemplify excellence in her attitude, demeanor, and work ethic. It has been an honor to be a patient family under her care. I specifically appreciate how she has made herself available during the times we have doctors visit and assess our son. Having seen him days on end she helps me communicate my questions and even fears. Her colleagues listen and there seems to be an amazing group effort of the teamwork on the floor which has been crucial to our son's care and the many different individuals who are seeing and treating him. Overall, Kathleen is an outstanding example of a DAISY Nurse. She has become our very own rock star on this emotional journey and I'll never forget her kindness and professionalism.
