Kathleen Mitchell 2026, RN
I would like to recognize Kathleen for the extraordinary impact she had on my family during my daughter’s NICU stay. As a first-time parent, I was overwhelmed and scared, but Kathleen’s calm presence, compassion, and reassurance brought us hope during one of the hardest times of our lives.
She helped us feel that our daughter was safe and that everything would be okay. Kathleen consistently went above and beyond to make the NICU feel less frightening and more human. She decorated our daughter’s bedside, adding special holiday touches, and taking time to dress her in outfits and bows that brought joy and normalcy to a difficult season.
She cared not only for our daughter medically, but for our entire family emotionally. Her kindness, attention to detail, and genuine love for her patients will stay with us forever, and she truly represents everything a nurse should be.
