My husband was admitted to the 4th floor telemetry unit with neutropenic fever following chemotherapy. He was quite ill and weak. He was experiencing intense fever spikes with shaking and a high heart rate. I felt very helpless and scared. Kathleen was his nurse several times. She seemed to intuitively know when he was not feeling well and immediately provided care and comfort. She seemed to read his needs without words, whether it be the “just right” ice pack, bed position, or a warm washcloth. She explained everything calmly and clearly. She was the utmost professional, and also able to cross that bridge of professionalism to provide understanding and comfort. I felt so relieved on the days she was his nurse, I would go to work knowing he was in the best hands. She truly felt like an angel sent to us during a very difficult time.
