Thank you, Kat, for being you and for turning a scary situation into one of the best experiences we have had at any medical facility.
Being in the hospital and leaving your loved ones' care in the hands of nurses and doctors is arguably one of the scariest experiences one can have. When my husband went to the ER after suffering a seizure, I instantly knew he was in great hands with Kathleen, aka Kat. She was incredibly attentive, patient, and one of the most empathetic medical professionals we have come across. She took the time to answer the fifty million questions we asked and made sure to reassure our entire family of any fears and concerns we had. I was nervous to leave my husband alone for an hour, and upon my return, he and Kat were best friends.
He excitedly stated, “Man, she is hands down the best nurse ever,” a compliment my particular husband does not lightly throw around. Through her care, Kat made my husband feel like a friend, and not just another sick patient. They bonded over medical field TV shows (we are excited to take Kat’s recommendation and start “The Pitt”), their pride of being born and raised in Porter Ranch, and their common cravings for In-N-Out. Although we were only there for 2 days, my husband and I were genuinely sad to have to say goodbye to the new friend we made.
Instead of simply saying goodbye and moving on, Kat said, “Let me walk you down to the lobby; after all, we became family.” Kat clearly made such a lasting and prominent impact on our family, and the fact that we were sad to leave the place where my husband almost passed away demonstrates what an incredible nurse and person Kat is.
Thank you, Kat, for being you and for turning a scary situation into one of the best experiences we have had at any medical facility. St. Joseph is very lucky to have Kat on their team.
