During Kathleen's first clinical shift at Jefferson Torresdale, her patient took a turn in a direction we did not expect. Kathleen did everything she could to keep her patient comfortable and was in the room near her through a rapid response and a code. Kathleen showed strong compassion and empathy towards this patient. She was able to identify that something was not right with the patient and questioned the information she heard during report. Unfortunately the patient did not make it but Kathleen with her classmates stayed in the room to clean the patient up and make her presentable for her family. She and her classmates showed exemplary teamwork especially when the time for post-mortem care came. The nursing field will be very lucky to have her when she finishes school.
