Kathleen Sowers, Registered Nurse

Kathleen has gone above and beyond in terms of dedicating herself to the care of OB patients on our unit. Over the past several months, we have had a significant staffing shortage, with there being many shifts with only 2 nurses. On a couple of occasions, when one of the two nurses was out unexpectedly, it left only one nurse on L&D. When Kathleen was asked to cover at the last minute, she graciously agreed, putting the needs of our patients first. Another time we had two new RNs scheduled to work, one of which did not have computer access, and the other couldn't access meds in the PYXIS. Kathleen stayed late and made multiple phone calls until it was assured that both RNs had what they needed to provide safe care. Kathleen is a pleasure to work with because she always puts the patients first and always tries to keep a smile on her face. Our patients are so lucky to have such a talented and caring RN.
