Kathleen
Tucker
I first met Ms. Tucker when I was her instructor in term 5, the first semester of the nursing program. She was friendly, outgoing and so excited to be in nursing school! She always came prepared, offered to participate, and encouraged her peers in lab and simulation experiences.
Fast forward to now, I am her instructor in term 8, the final semester of the nursing program. I continue to be amazed at how Kathleen demonstrates caring behaviors, advocacy, motivation, and support for her peers. One recent example of these behaviors is when Kathleen served as a mentor to term 7 students in a simulated laboratory experience using Zoom.
Kathleen and I were assigned to lead a pediatric multi-patient simulation experience for term 7 students. Kathleen helped create a caring, supportive learning environment for the term 7 students, by offering her assistance wherever needed and constantly reassuring the students that it will be fine and that they were doing a great job. At the end of the day, Kathleen volunteered to help other students later in the week. I was so impressed and proud of how this soon to be Edson graduate cares for and supports her peers. This student will be an amazing addition to the nursing profession!
