Kathleen was an extraordinary nurse and support system
Unfortunately, my mom, on Christmas day had to be admitted to Hillcrest. The ER did a great job getting her tests done and she was admitted to the Seidman tower. The floor was short-staffed over the time we were there. Many times, I heard, "sorry I am doing "x" number of things at once and will get to you as soon as I can. Kathleen Vidal on several days she was caring for my mom, not one time did she say this or make us feel like we were bothering her. Kathleen was an extraordinary nurse and support system. As a caregiver to my mom, I was feeling overwhelmed. Kathleen spoke to me with kindness and offered her professional advice. My mom is hard of hearing and Kathleen would articulate her words and speak to her with compassion. She would encourage my mom to try to move to help her heal and to eat her food for strength. When my mom would cry or become frustrated, Kathleen was positive and skilled in the delivery of her words. Kathleen was straightforward and would take the time to ask me how I was and offer tips to work with my mom for her next phase of rehabilitation. Kathleen was extremely busy but always gave us the time we needed. She gave me a waterless shower cap to "wash" my mom's hair, and it perked my mom right up! From the necessary medications to the extras to comfort my mom with dementia, Kathleen always knew the right things to do and say. Please know Kathleen made a meaningful difference to my mom's stay with her personalized care.
