She got G engaged and relaxed by bringing different tools - from her extensive knowledge of Pokémon to a special light tool she brought that let him see his veins.
Our son G (10) had an MRI to investigate a GI issue which has made eating and drinking difficult. He was incredibly upset both from having to drink the contrast and from being stuck for the IV and a blood draw. He was dehydrated, making the blood draw difficult. I think we had already been there for an hour and a half when Kathrine (Kiki) came to assist and try to help. They had called for the IV Team, but I believe she is also good at doing draws, so she came in. Well, she totally turned the situation around. She got G engaged and relaxed by bringing different tools - from her extensive knowledge of Pokémon to a special light tool she brought that let him see his veins. She had such a rapport with him, as well as my husband and me. We asked her to try to get him to finish the contrast, and he did at her urging. She assisted the IV team and then did the last few cc’s herself on a last ditch attempt. We really feel she went above and beyond and as parents we were beyond grateful she came to help. I honestly don’t think we would have made it through the procedure had she not assisted.
