My husband was a patient. Kathryn was in the room, attending to the patient in the adjacent bed. He was a memory care patient and needed 24-hour nursing care in the room. Kathryn was great with this patient. She kept him busy visiting with him, taking him on walks, having music therapy time and taking care of all his personal needs. She was so aware of the need to keep his mind active and asked him about things from his past and the present. She reminded him to use the bathroom, wash his hands and make sure he was always clean and dressed appropriately. She always asked the patient if it was okay for her to do whatever she needed to do before touching him. She even asked us if we needed anything several times even though my husband was not her patient. We definitely need more caring nurses like Kathryn. She deserves to be recognized as an extraordinary nurse.
