This year is the first year since the start of the Transplant Program at Medical City Fort Worth that our living donor program has met its goal, and the first year Kathryn has served as the living donor coordinator.
Kathryn has worked here at Medical City Fort Worth for over 10 years. In every role, she has made a difference. This year is the first year since the start of the Transplant Program at Medical City Fort Worth that our living donor program has met its goal, and the first year Kathryn has served as the living donor coordinator. She was actually able to exceed the goal. With a massive shortage of deceased donor kidneys, Kathryn has worked hard to educate, encourage, and evaluate potential living donors. She was selected to present a case study in New York in July for the National Kidney Registry’s coordinator training event. She has given her time on Sundays to facilitate Living Donor Workshops for English and Spanish-speaking patients, where she teaches them strategies to help find living donors. Under her leadership, Medical City Fort Worth is the top program in the National Kidney Registry for patients with active Microsites. These personalized websites help patients connect with living donors. In addition to the workshops, she has attended several community events, including the Donate Life Walk and National Kidney Foundation Walk, where she is able to connect on a personal level with those in the community most impacted by kidney disease. She has a passion for our patients and living donors. Her commitment to excellence is regularly demonstrated in the way she shows endless compassion for her patients and her willingness to commit her time, above and beyond her work day, to spread information about living donation throughout our community. She is a constant source of positivity, hope, and encouragement for her patients and colleagues.
