My mother and I were driving home from Florida when my mother became ill. We stopped at your hospital for treatment and my mother was eventually admitted. I was concerned as I was unfamiliar with the area and was in great distress. Luckily, we met this nurse. Kathryn stopped to check in on my mother and I explained our situation. I asked if there was a laundry mat nearby since I was out of clean clothes and if this nurse knew of a dog kennel nearby (we were traveling with my mom's dog).

Without hesitation, Kathryn offered to wash our clothes at their home that evening and offered to watch the dog until my mom was released. I was gobsmacked at this nurse's offer and tearfully accepted. The stress of my mom's illness far from home in an unfamiliar city was almost unbearable, but this nurse's kindness made focusing on my mother a hundred times easier. This nurse's helpful attitude and dedication to not only helping the patient but helping the family is a true DAISY Award action.
