July 2023 Honoree
Kathryn Rice, RN
Our world turned upside down. Being an RN myself, it is a little harder being on the other side. We had to rush my mom to the ER to severe stomach pain. Two days later we were having urgent surgery to have it removed and was told she had cancer. Everyone was awesome from the ER to the floor staff, and I mean awesome staff! I would love to give a nomination to every nurse that touched and cared for my mom: ER, 4D, Surgery, Recovery, PACU, and all of 4B.
One nurse stood out; Kathryn was awesome, caring, compassionate, and always had a smile on her face. She was patient with my mom who is very hard of hearing. She explained why she was doing things and giving the meds to her. She made me feel at ease when I had to leave and go to work. We are blessed to have all the staff we had taking care of my mom, and I am proud to be a part of MHG. I/We were blessed to meet such a professional nurse with amazing kindness and a caring attitude.

Thank you, Kathryn, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
